Himanshu obtained his doctorate supervised by Prof Yiannis Ventikos at the University of Oxford. Here, he developed a computational framework to understand the dynamic interactions between cells and their microenvironment during histogenesis. As part of the AirPROM consortium working with Prof Rod Smallwood, Himanshu developed the virtual asthma patient that captured multiple asthma phenotypes. During his postdoc with Prof Peter Zandstra (University of Toronto & University of British Columbia), Himanshu united cell culture methods, synthetic biology approaches, and multiscale modelling to reveal how cells decode their position during biological patterning. In 2021, Himanshu started his lab at the University of Leicester with cross-appointments in the School of Engineering and Department of Respiratory Sciences.
